(1)AN APPEAL
The bamboo, wood, and cane crafts of the Karbis(one of the tribes of North -Eastern part of India, with rich cultures of Music, dances, crafts, etc.and lives on the green hills)is considered as one of the most important belt for tribal Crafts ,which are basically crafts for rituals, aesthetics anf functional aspects. The traditin of makng crafts have been handed from one generation after the generatin. They have no formal trainng yet they are very skills and natural in their works.Being an artists myself and trained in an academic art institution, yet I feel that I have to learn something from the tribal craftsmen.therefore, the KAFACA and the KCS have thought of the need to shares a place of platform where every craftsmen can shares their workks and feelings by way of Workshop and Seminar. The need for prpoper Fine Art and Crafts College, Gallery,Museum, research centre, etc. is also felt very urgently to expose them in the global world art.
Therefore, I on behalf of the organiser of the Karbi Crafts Workshop, Seminar and Exhibitin cum Sale,2009, appeal to all the artists of the world to send a written Message and a Best Wishes for the said Crafts Workshop and Seminar as part of co- ordination and encouragement to the artists and craftsmen of the tribal peoples of Karbi Anglong. The Message and Best Wishes will be published in the Souvenir(Magazine) under the title,"KUMLIN" which in Karbi language is STATUE.It would be very encouraging if you could send the written Message and Best Wishes along with artists photograph or any images of the artists works or only the message and best wishes along with the country name .
In regards to this I welcomes your creative ideas and suggestation for the better success of the workshop and seminar.Thanking you with expectation.
